Employer Maintain a Safe Workplace

Physically turn your head and check over both shoulders prior to reversing the forklift on all occasions;
2.
Verbally communicate with other workers and provide clear instructions for safety around the forklift particularly if the task requires you to approach within 5 metres of pedestrian(s);
3.
Sound the horn on approach to all blind corners and slow down;
4.
Wear your seatbelt at all times during operations;
5.
Never perform tasks you're not trained to do;
6.
Report hazards or hazrdous situations immediately;
7. Follow the
site rules and or
traffic management plans ;
8.
Never assume that the person(s) you are approaching understands the physical characteristics of an operating forklift and take appropriate actions to ensure safety -
STOP and communicate;
9.
Educate the uneducated you know the potential for injury, but do your work mates?
10.
Remain competent - many forklift operators after initial licencing tend to forget the lessons learnt. It is the responsibility of the licence holder to maintain a high level of knowledge.
